Unique Finds from all over Denmark is Coming to Løkken Antique Fair…

When the annual antique fair opens in Løkkenhallen on Thursday the 2nd of August at 11:00, then the antique dealers of about 40 stands have been very busy to get ready – and they will have put all their efforts into presenting their things in the best possible way.

On each stand there will be a single thing marked with a small Danish flag. This signalizes a unique find. As the owner of the stand has chosen. An item that might even have a special story.

“Of course, you are more than welcome to ask – as you know, antique dealers have many good stories to tell! This you can see on television – but also be lucky to experience in reality, says organizer Carl Sørensen, Gule Længe, Lønstrup.

For example: What can Sigge from Tversted, reveal about an elephant of wood with a berider of wood and a seat on the back for a large square can of tea?

Together with his family, Carl has organized the fair every summer for many years – this coming fair is no. 43 in the series.

The fair lasts four days and there are usually 4-5,000 guests during the somewhat extended weekend in week 31.

To see more, go to www.loekkenantikmesse.dk. Or follow the antique fair on Facebook.

Løkken Antique Fair is open Thursday 2 and Friday 3 August 11:00 – 18:00 and Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 August 11:00 – 17:00.

New Exhibitors at Løkken Antique Fair …

When this year’s antique fair in Løkken opens on Thursday, August 2nd, there will be almost 40 stands with antique dealers from all over Denmark.

This year there will be new exhibitors – five in total from Funen and Jutland.

From Spjald, south of Holstebro, Jørgen Pries comes with an exclusive collection of maritime cases that typically Norwegian guests are interested in. He also has finer classical antiques like hand-polished mahogany furniture, a late-empire mirror and well-preserved Danish farm furniture. Repriese, is the name of his shop.

From Funen, Johnna and Christian will bring items from their shop, Butik Pulvis – all of them found here in Denmark. There are retro-style pendants and lamps, but also from the 30’s, special things for collectors, Scandinavian glass and design items – a mix of slightly different things that get the chance of a new life with new owners.

From Gl. Kongevej in Engesvang, comes Benjamin from Antik og design Compagniet – he is one of the younger antique dealers who will show various items of which he himself has a good eye to. For example, Kay Bojesen toys, pottery, Greenlandic items, glass and other stuff. Benjamin’s things are only found on fairs and online, as he only does websale.

The same is the case with Michael from Broager close to Sønderborg. He has a lot in the field of mussel-painted, blue flower (blå blomst), seagull set (mågestel), royal figures and gold and silver jewellery. The jewellery typically from the slightly more modern end of history. In addition, there are furniture and lamps. The store is called Gamle Fund.

Finally, Sigges Univers from Tversted is back at the fair again – many of the locals already know Sigge and his many fun finds.

The fair lasts four days: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

They are Packing in the Middle of the Heatwave…

All around Denmark, almost 40 antique dealers are packing and getting ready. They select their very best things, so that every exhibitor –  in competition with each other – can create a stand that attracts attention.

When the guests go through the open doors on Thursday the 2nd of August at 11 – then things are off for the annual antique fair in Løkken – this year for the 43th time.

As usual, Løkken-hallen will be full – antique dealers will cover every available square meter.

“Although we have organized the fair so many times, it continues to be exciting every single year. We do our utmost to create a mix, so there is something for everyone – both those who like retro and design, and for those who are looking for more classic antiques”, says the organizer, Carl Sørensen, from Gule Længe Antik in Lønstrup.

He is especially pleased with the support of the locals – who return year after year. In addition, there are many summer guests who also come back year after year, while others discover for the first time that an antique fair is taking place over 4 days in week 31 in Løkken-Hallen.

Openings hours: Thursday and Friday from 11:00-18:00 plus Saturday and Sunday from 11:00-17:00.
